Cadel Evans Chances Discounted
Andy Schleck discounts Cadel Evans chances at being a true tour contender. Looks like Cadel Evans has some detractors, which you probably already know. Velo News just broke the story in an interview with Andy Schleck here...http://velonews.competitor.com/2010/07/news/andy-schleck-dismisses-cadel-evans-as-tour-threat_127487
This begs the question, "Is having the talents of Cadel Evans worth having such a shrill voice and looking so weird?" That's for his fan to decide...

TDF Stage 5 -2010
Finally Cavendish gets a win! In what looked to be a Garmin-Transitions text book leadout for Tyler Farrar, we saw another leadout train foiled. Cavendish, through sheer will power (and maybe some strong elbows), positioned himself in just such a way to find daylight when it mattered most and came across the finish line first by a bike length.
For you fantasy tour fans out there: The last flatter stage is today before the peloton navigates an area of the mountains it has never finished on before. So, it's time to trade some of your sprinters and buy some general classification guys back on your team.
Tomorrow's stage 7 has six climbs and a multitude of King Of the Mountains points along the way. Look for a breakaway of a few riders or even a solo rider looking to lock up some KOM points early on. The big GC guys will also be trying to make back some time if they have lost any on the earlier slippery and cobble filled stages.
Petacchi is Backi
Stage 4 of the 2010 Tour De France was also it's shortest. However, the final sprint would be the most exciting and less predictable outcome of the day. A false flat, uphill finish would slow things up enough for the Columbia HTC leadout to be "train wrecked" as it were. Danilo Hondo launched a decisive "suicide" attach in the final kilometer which paid off in dividends for his team leader and Tour veteran, Alessandro Pettachi. The attack disrupted the HTC train so thoroughly that Mark Cavendish lost control and position for the contest at the finish. In fact, the strategic leadout was messed up so thoroughly that Cavendish did not even really contest it, settling for twelfth place on the day. Could it be that the old guard is challenging the newer, younger riders this Tour? We will see how the years of race experience come into play as the stages unfold. Stay tuned and keep that fantasy team stocked with the best riders. Remember also to check out our Adarga SportTape leather handlebar wrap in our store.
